About The Sarah Community

Our Story

The Sarah Community was built around a conversation. Five women religious congregations initially came together to identify pressing needs related to relocation of their senior and infirm sisters and to suggest ways of working together to address these issues. Through conversations, relationships developed and a dream that became foundational to The Sarah Community's Mission was shared. Soon others joined the conversation and collaboration began. From the beginning, this endeavor was Spirit led providing opportunities for residents to thrive as their needs are met by caring and compassionate staff.

The Sarah Community offers Retirement Apartments, Assisted Living Apartments and Skilled Nursing Care for older adults. Here, tomorrow is to be embraced, not feared. In all directions there are new horizons and new opportunities for personal growth and fulfillment. As every resident will tell you, theirs is a home made warmer by celebrating diversity and new acquaintances.

At The Sarah Community, residents who are men and women, couples and singles, discover and experience everyday a nurturing and empowering environment. The best in each person is called forth creatively and celebrated in an atmosphere of respect for the dignity and individuality of each one. Our residents and staff seek to build a community of care and love that is open to all the treasures and surprises of life so each one may find meaning, purpose and inner wisdom.

The Sarah Community, through the collaboration of five Catholic religious congregations
of women, provides quality service for the long term care and retirement needs of their
members and the general public with respect, compassion and a spirit of welcoming

The Sarah Community Values:

  • The gift of life and shows respect for each person's human dignity and uniqueness
  • An atmosphere conducive to the expression of faith and nurturing of the spiritual dimension of life
  • The promotion of lifelong development and holistic growth of the individual
  • An attitude of compassionate service and concern for our residents
  • Dedication to creativity and excellence in work and services
  • Mutual support, justice and collaboration in relationships with staff, residents, and their families

Senior Information Consultant

The Sarah Community's own Jeanie Egerton was recently certified as a Missouri Senior Information Consultant by LeadingAge Missouri. This prominent designation recognizes her knowledge and field experience in the senior care profession. By providing statewide training on topics significant to seniors and their caregivers, the program trains senior care professionals on how to assess needs and clearly disseminate senior care and service information.

Financial Assistance Program

Based upon its mission of providing health care, housing, and related services to the elderly in a spirit of compassion and hospitality, The Sarah Community has a program of financial assistance for new and continuing residents. Since its inception in 2001, The Sarah Community’s financial assistance program has continually achieved its goal of providing services to persons unable to pay the full cost of their care, and no resident has been asked to leave because of an inability to pay.
