In the fall of each year all residents and staff are invited to the Assembly Room for the annual Blessing of Hands.
The residents form a circle and the staff are invited to stand in the middle of the circle. Each resident is given a cotton ball with oil. The staff then present themselves individually to the residents and their hands are blessed by them and a short prayer is said.
This short prayer and traditional ritual of the Blessing of Hands gives residents the opportunity to express in a formal way their gratitude to the employees for the care and service they provide all year long. This touching ceremony is cherished by staff and residents alike.
