Several weeks ago a staff member shared with me that she has a favorite scripture verse that she sits with every morning and recalls during the day and again at night before bed. This passage has become a key to keeping her focused during the day. It also encourages her and helps her to turn things over to the Divine One, especially those situations in which she has no control or when things get negative. Over time it has deepened her personal relationships not only with God, but her family, co-workers and residents. In listening to her, it became obvious that this particular passage had a very special meaning for her; it touched her heart in a way that especially spoke to her. If you don’t have your own short passage, why not try to find one or ask to be shown. It does not have to be a sacred text. It needs to speak to your heart and your circumstances. You can also think back over your life and see if some particular quote that has spoken to you or appeals because it seems uplifting, peaceful, loving, or wise to you. Try it and see if it makes a difference.
Blessings on finding new strength, and refreshed life in this summer heat, Sr. Elaine, rscj Co-Director of Mission Integration and Spiritual Care
