Our world is moving at such a fast pace with so many news bites and demands. What are we to do? I know that I need some simple way to calm myself enough to pause instead of reacting quickly which can escalate into judgment, dismissal, anger or a win-lose situation. I need to find a way that is responding in an open way that is life giving.
The following is shared as a suggestion to possibly help us focus on something of meaning or purpose, something that builds us up, touches our heart or gives us a sense of safety, joy or presence supporting us in times of challenge or overwhelm. A resident shared this first example with me. It was a realization, a little saying that came to her and can be said at any time to one’s inner self. It refers to the Divine One or whatever name you use for the Creator or God. “He really loves me. Yes, He does. He really does.” Repeat it slowly to yourself to feel the power in these few words and modify it so it fits you. Another short saying, said silently to ourselves can bring about a feeling of strength, support, love, etc. It is for those of us who believe or would like to believe in Jesus and his family of Mary and Joseph. These few words can be used for times when we feel that we need additional family support, love or presence. “Jesus, Mary and Joseph, come to my assistance.” You may already have some short saying/prayer that you use. I think you will agree that over time it does make a difference.
